Reactor Power Control System Nuclear Power Plant
VVER type 440 (Automatic power control (ARM))
ARM monitors the Main Steam Collector (MSC) pressure
and seeks after maintaining the pressure in the range of a certain
limits. Under certain circumstances ARM unloads the reactor fast.
In order to fulfil this task, ARM actuates the
direct reactor rod control. This control is implemented on the
basis of algorithm, which takes in to account the process development
requirements in the reactor by means of the neutron power signals,
preset technologic limitations and requirements.
ARM indicates the system and the control process
status. ARM signalizes about the appearance of conditions, indicating
the correct or incorrect functioning of the system and the object
controlled.

ARM is developed on contemporary programmable
controllers, performing control, selecting the result by “2
out of 2” voting algorithm for power control and for completing
the quick reactor’s unloading - by “1 of 2”
voting.
ARM is equipped with contemporary Human Machine
Interface (HMI) technology-Touch Screen type on InTouch platformof
Wonderware Corporation.
The system works on the basis of doubled or tripled
signals. It uses a specific algorithm to select the correct from
incorrect signals. This intensive diagnostic allows the elimination
of failures in less than an hour period.

Changing ARM’s mode is built in the functionality
of the system. It enables the operator to take over the process
control manually.
After one year pilot operation, the system was successfully commissioned and accepted.
