REG-01
1. PURPOSE
REG-01 is front-end module for a machine island surveillance operators
logging system . REG-01 is aimed to realize communication between
operator portable computer or specialized terminal and the other
nodes of a Lon Works network of the system. It is a rugged device,
withstanding harsh environment conditions. It also has anti-intrusion
facilities.
2. DESCRIPTION
REG-01 is a module based on Echelon's Neuron 3150 processor. By
changing its transceiver type the communication speed may vary
from 0.6 to 1250 kbps. The module has an infrared serial port
conforming to the hardware specifications of IrDA 1.1 with maximum
communication speed of 4.8 kbps. The main function of REG-01 is
to receive/transmit data through its infrared port, with nearby
operator computer or specialized terminal, process the data and
then send/receive it over a LonWorks network. REG-01 has two power
supplies. The main power supply is 220 V AC. In case the main
power supply is missing the module is powered by its backup power
supply. A sealed lead-acid battery provides enough power for the
module to sustain its operation for at least 30 minutes (in the
worst case) when the main power supply is absent. When the main
power supply is present it charges the battery, if necessary.
REG-01 is designed for use in a wide temperature range. Its box
provides IP rating of IP65 effectively shielding it from weather
and dust.
Other features of REG-01 are:
- I2C clock-calendar, which provides ability to add the date/time
to outgoing messages. It can also work in alarm mode, activating
its interrupt output in case a timer runs out or a predefined
data/time is reached;
- Monitoring of the enclosure tampering;
- Monitoring the main and backup power supply state;
- Monitoring general-purpose digital input;
- Switching the infrared port's communication speed - from 2.4
to 4.8 kbps and vice versa at runtime;
- Sleep mode for decreasing the power consumption. The processor
exits the sleep mode in one of the following cases:
- Incoming network communication;
- Interrupt signal from the real-time clock-calendar;
- Module enclosure tampering signaling;
- Transition of the general purpose digital input;
- Battery voltage falls under or raises over a predefined voltage;
- Main power supply is switched on/off;
- Incoming infrared port communication;

4. CONFIGURING AND APPLICATION
SOFTWARE SUPPORT
REG-01 is integrated building block of
Machine Island Surveillance Operator logging System ( MISOL System).
REG-01, as such a building block is configured and integrated
by means of the MISOL System development tool. For the purpose
of utilizing it, as part of other systems, relevant data will
be provided on request.
